SERVICE PROVIDER PRICING

TrueCNAM’s carrier and service provider pricing is based on the capacity you use on our network, rather than charging per query, and is similar to burstable IP Transit billing. Our pricing model is designed to accommodate any traffic pattern, but most will fall into the basic example outlined below.

Most telecommunications service providers have traffic that loosely resembles a bell curve, and typically their traffic is fairly similar day-to-day, with some days having less traffic (weekends in some cases).

In short, if your traffic looks similar to a bell curve, our pricing essentially charges you for the equivalent of 1 day of usage in a calendar month, with the rest of your queries included in that price. Our pricing is designed to encourage re-querying of CNAM data for every call your network receives, and not penalize service providers for doing so. Keep reading below for further details.

How we count your queries

During every minute in a calendar month we store the quantity of CNAM queries you make to the TrueCNAM database, with each minute known as a “query-minute”. Assuming you submit at least 1 query per minute during every minute in a 30-day calendar month, this means there are 43,200 query-minutes in a month (60 minutes * 24 hours * 30 days = 43,200).

At the end of a calendar month we take all of the results from your query minutes, sort them in descending order, and the highest 5% of query-minutes we drop. The remaining highest query-minute is what we bill you for.

Following the example above, this means that if your traffic levels are similar on a daily basis, during 2,160 query-minutes (5% of 43,200), which is 36 hours in a month, we don’t count those queries, essentially excluding your busiest call-hour daily.

A Basic Example

Here’s a simple low-traffic example that matches common service provider traffic patterns:

During a 30-day month, CNAM queries to TrueCNAM ranged from a low of 4 per query-minute, to a high of 158 per query-minute. The top 5% of query-minutes (2,160 query-minutes, or 36 hours in a 30-day month) ranges from 126 to 158, and this top 5% is dropped from the billing calculation. The next highest query-minute value was also 126, and this number is used for billing calculation.

In this example, approximately 2.55 million CNAM queries were submitted during the entire month, and the customer would have been billed in the hundreds of dollars for all of those 2.55 Million queries. TrueCNAM offers automated discounts that can bring the cost per-query down based on your traffic levels.

More Included, For Free

We also include TrueSpam scores and TrueCLID indication on every CNAM query response, for free. If you choose to populate TrueCLID with outbound calls placed from your network, this is also included for free when you use our CNAM querying service. And finally, even if you’re not using our paid services, you can still store in our database CNAM information for any E.164 number on your network, also for free.

Post-Paid, Month-to-Month, and Automatic Volume Discounts

Our contract is simple, fair, and month-to-month. We have automated discounts based on your volume each month. If you stop sending queries, we stop billing you.
